John Joseph Murphy, 93, of Kansas City, passed away June 4, 2018, surrounded by family, in his home. Visitation will be Thursday, June 7, 6-8 pm with rosary at 7:30 pm at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, June 8 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 85th & Wornall, Kansas City, MO.
John was born August 17, 1924, in Kansas City, MO. He was a veteran of WWII and worked at Phillips Petroleum/Sealright for over 40 years.
His wife of 41 years, Mary Louise (Hornbeck) Murphy, in addition to his grandson, Anthony Gonzales, and great-granddaughter, Bailey Wages, preceded him in death. John is survived by his five children – Shawn (Cheryl) Murphy, Kevin (Kathy) Murphy, Nora (Jim) Wages, Kathy (Trino) Gonzales and Dan (Sarah) Murphy. He leaves a legacy of 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
