A visitation is scheduled from 10:30 - 11:30 AM Thursday, May 13th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a funeral is scheduled for 11:30 AM. Burial, with military honors, is scheduled at 1:30PM Thursday at Leavenworth National Cemetery, where at this time Covid19 regulations limits the gathering to 10 people at the cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation.
Richard was born March 10, 1944 to Adolph Fred and Beatrice Anna (Brull) Romey in Kansas City, KS. He was raised in Dighton, KS and moved to Kansas City, KS in 1951 where he attended Bishop Ward High School. Richard was an Army veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the 317th Engineer Battalion in Germany. Following the service Richard worked as an electrician and then as a developer in the Northland. He had also lived in Arizona for 20 years where he owned a recycling yard.
Richard was a very active individual. He enjoyed traveling with his family and later started making trips in his RV from Arizona to Missouri many times during the year. He also enjoyed going to Las Vegas to play poker machines and meeting up with family for a weekend of fun. Richard also enjoyed classic cars and motorcycles. He even had a few he would tinker with to keep himself busy. In between his many hobbies, he always found time to spend with his grandchildren who meant the world to him. He was proud of each one!
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Roger Romey and Gene and his wife, Frieda Romey; and sister-in-law, Mildred Romey.
Survivors include his children, Raymond and wife, Theresa Romey, Shelley and husband, Jim Roy, and Ryan Romey; grandchildren, Dylan Roy (Brittany), Ethan Romey, Mathew Romey, Hailey Romey, and Lucas Romey; and a great grandson, Brayden Roy; brothers, Larry Romey and Bud Romey; a sister-in-law, Jane Romey; and many nieces and nephews.
