

Loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather William Allen Merryman passed away on April 6, 2018 in Katy, Texas. He was born on March 4, 1942 in Marlin, Texas to Charlie and Edna Lee Merryman.
Bill as he was called by family and friends graduated from Lamar University. He was an accountant for Tenneco in Houston, Texas for several years. At Utility Fuels Incorporated, he was instrumental in overseeing the company’s involvement with the lignite mine in Jewett, Texas. In his later years, Bill worked at the Super Target in Katy, Texas. He enjoyed helping customers with their priceless photos in the photo lab. Bill was a deacon and served as Sunday School Coordinator for his church in Houston and Mexia. He was a member of the board for the hospital in Mexia.
At Lamar University, Bill met his wife Evelyn in the band in the clarinet section. Together for 52 years of marriage, Bill never forgot the special times which included the day he gave her his fraternity pin and the first kiss. He was committed to Evelyn for life.
Bill is survived by his wife Evelyn; his daughter, Jill; his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Jennifer; his three grandchildren Emma, Caleb, and Isabella; and his nephews and niece.
Bill is preceded in death by his son John Charles; his parents Charlie and Edna Lee; his sister Jennifer; and his parents-in-law John and Lucile Fogleman.
A memorial service will be held in his honor to celebrate his life. The time and place will be determined soon.
The family suggests that donations in his name be made to your church or charity. One of Bill’s donations each year was to the Boy Scouts of America.
