April 25, 1933 – June 22, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother after a brief battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
Lil will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses Kerry & Diane Zimmerman of Thunder Bay, Wendy & Jeff Beaucage of Calgary, Martin & Cathy Zimmerman of Kitchener; grandchildren Heather, Leanne, Adrienne, Luke, Sandra and Julia; big brother Edward Forrest & Shirley; sisters-in-law Gloria & Harold King; Debbie & Doug Dubeau; Katherine Lamoureux; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ray, brother Vernon and sister-in-law Charlotte Forrest and grandson Keith Zimmerman.
Lil was born and raised in Winnipeg and grew to love Lake of the Woods after spending many childhood summers at the “Cabin in the Pines” on the Beach Road. She moved to the Kenora area with her husband and children in the late 1960s and worked until her retirement at the TD Bank in Kenora. She was an active member and held many executive positions in the Women’s Guild, Keewatin T.O.P.S. Keewatin Legion, the Keewatin Curling Club and the Royal Crowns. Some of her fondest memories were time spent travelling to visit her children, going to the Calgary Stampede and sharing lunch with the girls.
The funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11 am with Pastor Rod Lamb officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital or First Presbyterian are appreciated.
Special thanks to Dr. T. Wehner and all the staff on 3 East at the hospital as well as all her special friends who were with her throughout her illness.
