Donald D Ramirez Jr., age 66, of Kerman, California entered into rest on Monday, August 3, 2020. Donald was born May 26, 1954 in Hanford, California to Mary Catherine Barrios and Donald Dennis Ramirez Sr.
Donald is survived by his mother Mary Catherine Barrios Ramirez, sister Jacque Tripp and brother Arthur Ramirez.
Donald was preceded in death by his father Donald Dennis Ramirez Sr. and brother Anthony Patrick Ramirez.
Don or otherwise known as Donnie moved to Kerman with his family in 1961 and attended Kerman Floyd Elementary, Kerman Middle School and graduated from Kerman High in 1972. Don was active in Boy Scouts and received the rank of Eagle Scout. From there he became a full-time geriatric nursing attendant for 7 years. While there he was employee of the month and later employee of the year.
In 1979 Don worked for a local convenience store chain. He completed the Dale Carnegie School and received the Human Relations Award and a personal progress award.
For over 18 years he was the Kerman Harvest Festival Parade Chairman. In 1980, Don was awarded a hero’s award by the Kerman Chamber of Commerce for administering life saving techniques for a choking victim who was attending a dinner for the chamber.
He received a letter of recognition from the Kerman Police Department for his service as a member of the Citizens on Patrol. He then was hired full time as the Records Manager. Don worked closely with the Police Explorers program, assisting many young men and women with their careers as police officers. Don retired on June 30, 2020.
Due to COVID-19 there will not be any graveside services. A memorial will be scheduled at a later date when restrictions have been lifted.
