Frank Raymond Schomer was born December 1, 1943 in Houston, TX to Grover Franklin Schomer and Vallie Vivian Minton. Frank was a mischievous little boy who loved riding bikes, shooting guns, and tormenting the neighbor’s monkeys. Frank joined the Marines at 18 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California, where me met and married the love of his life, Jacolyn Sue Smith. Frank served our country 4.5 years with two tours in Vietnam. Eventually Frank and Jacki settled back in Texas and had four beautiful children, Brenda Renee, Frank Raymond II, David Berlin, and Lisa Vallie. Frank was an esteemed carpenter who built custom homes and made friends wherever he went. A devout Christian, he prayed for the salvation of everyone he met, served as a deacon at Second Baptist Church, and fasted every Wednesday for his family. His favorite verse was Proverbs 3:5-6 and encouraged his grandkids to memorize it.
Frank passed May 3, 2019 surrounded by family sweetly singing him to heaven. Frank died from lung cancer and was anguished over smoking in his youth. Frank will be dearly missed by his wife, children, sons- and daughter-in-law, 8 grandchildren, 1 soon-to-be-born great-grandchild, surviving siblings, Mary Jean Mudry and Grover Franklin Jr., nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and colleagues. He is proceeded in death by his parents, sister, Marilyn Joyce Nicholson, and beloved son, Frank Raymond II.
