Predeceased by her cherished husband Jack, she will be forever loved by her son David Wight (Linda), grandson Christian, brother Bob Kinder (Rita), nephew Glenn Kinder (Sue), nieces Heather Kinder (Rebecca), Christine and Jane Gingerich and Sue Goodwin. Also remembered by her lifelong friend Fran Thomas, and her Godson Michael.
Fran left her beloved Australia to find a new life in her nursing career. She travelled and worked in many locations, ending up in Canada where she met the love of her life Jack (John Arthur Wight). Frances worked in both Emergency and the cancer ward of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto. Frances was an extraordinary woman who always had a smile on her face and passion for all people she met. She and Jack always had their home open for people who needed to have love and guidance. Many individuals benefited from the kindness and love that was shared by Fran, and have grown and now have families of their own to share the wisdom learned from Fran and Jack. Fran was a lover of cats and there was always on under foot in the household, most notably her beloved Poppy. As a proud and lifelong member of the Salvation Army, Fran’s faith was a central part of her being and journey through life. Fran’s crafty and talented hands sculpted and created in many mediums, needlepoint always being a favorite. Special thanks to the staff of Lanark Heights Long Term Care Centre, Maple for all of the kindness and great care that they provided for our dear Fran. One of her last wishes in life was that she could cuddle a real cat again. The loving staff, especially Erica, made this dream come true, giving Fran one last snuggle and nuzzle.
Friends are welcomed at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, on Monday, January 28th from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be in the Westmount Chapel on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Cremation and inurnment will follow at Glean Oaks Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Oakville.
