With heavy hearts, Joyce’s family announces her passing at Grand River Hospital on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in her 82nd year. Dearly loved mother of Doug (Debbie) Schmidt and the late Greg Schmidt (January 11, 2010), she leaves precious memories with her grandchildren; Taryn, Krystal, Brittney, Josh, Brooklyn, Madison, and her great grandchildren Ciera, Kamara, Kieden, Kailem, Tristan, Thomas, Ethan and Dante. Greatly loved by her sister Verna Gatke , daughter-in-law Janet, and her parents, the late Jackobina and Peter Bender and her brother Calvin Bender. A heartfelt thank you is extended from the family to Grand River Hospital I.C.U. for their diligent love and care.
The family will receive friends at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., on Saturday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A private family celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the I.C.U. Unit of Grand River Hospital are greatly appreciated.
