For 66 years the beloved wife of the late Norman Tomlinson (2011). Loving mother of Gary (Pauline) and grandmother of Jonathan. Predeceased by her granddaughter Meagan (2002) and her parents Frank and Lydia. Ruth was the final remaining founding member of the K-W Weavers and Spinners Guild. She was an early member of the Waterloo Regional Police Citizens on Patrol (COPS) program and one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the Mill Courtland Neighborhood Association and ultimately the Mill Courtland Community Centre. For 40 years Ruth was a regular volunteer and demonstrator at Doon Heritage Village and the Schneider Haus. Ruth was a recipient of the Canada 125 Medal and the Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement. As per Ruth’s wishes, cremation will take place followed by a private family interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Kitchener. A celebration of Ruth’s life will take place at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S. Kitchener on Saturday, October 20, 2018 with a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by service at 11:00 am. Ruth’s family would like to thank the nursing staff and particularly the PSW’s at Lanark Heights for the wonderful and compassionate care Ruth received during her time there; as well as the nursing and PSW staff at Granite Landing Memory Care in Cambridge.
