To Eliseo Frogozo Lago, the entire world was a stage. An expressive, optimistic, and uninhibited individual, he willingly shared joy with anyone whose life he touched. For Eliseo, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile or a witty remark. And with just those simple gestures, he could evoke the most pleasant of emotions.
His parents were Jose and Fausta Lago. Eliseo was raised in District 2, Reina Mercedes, Isabela, Philippines. He was raised to be warm, caring and friendly. Always a good playmate, he seemed to have a knack for bringing compromise. Due to a generous dose of common sense, Eliseo managed to find a satisfying solution to basic problems. He had one older sister, Melita.
Eliseo enjoyed others’ laughter and the sounds of his friends and acquaintances having a good time. He enjoyed his education so much that he was led to pursue a career in teaching. He enjoyed hands-on learning and applying the “practical” approach to knowledge, rather than getting caught up in “theory.” Eliseo graduated from Isabela National High School in 1964.
Eliseo reveled in his college years, where he was viewed by many of his classmates as being a creative and active person. Eliseo relished the task of putting his imagination to work in class. He was able to discover new and different ways of answering problems and creating unusual and different solutions. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He also pursued graduate school, earning his Master of Arts in Education.
He and Lolita Salas Reginaldo joyfully married in the Philippines on June 13, 1970. Together they traveled, moved, worked toward their goals, and made a family. After 52 years of marriage, they had shared almost all of their lives with each other.
Eliseo was blessed with 5, 3 sons, Melvin, Emerson and Brandon, and 2 daughters, Aileen and Hazel. He was also overjoyed to be a grandfather to his 13 grandchildren: Zia Alessandra, Zoe Rein, Paola Lei, Gian Andrei, Kate Ashley, Krisha Mae, Troy Jacob, Keilana Erinn, Kai Enzo, Jaden Ashton, Jaze Xander, Giuliana Lexie and Gavin Lenox. If he was spending time with the kids, that’s where all of his attention was directed. He could spend hours entertaining them with fun and creative play.
Eliseo never actually encountered a stranger in his dealings with people. Eliseo utilized his interest in others as a great way to connect with them. Later in life, he became friends Julie Lattimore, Felix Antonio, Andy Delos Santos, Felisa & Cirilo Lopez. Eliseo loved sharing life and having his home filled with people he knew.
Eliseo was an adaptable realist, using his common sense and trusting his experiences and knowledge of the Bible to uncover the correct answer. Eliseo's talent for being a down to earth thinker, allowed many around him to see Eliseo as an excellent problem solver. His primary occupation was teaching. He was employed for 39 years in the Department of Education.
Eliseo enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were planting, reading, and gardening. Eliseo was content to enjoy his hobbies alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. He was always grateful for the opportunity to visit his home in the Philippines.
Vested with a deep concern for spiritual development, Eliseo recognized that his faith was important to him throughout his life. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses for 61 years. During that time, he was involved in preaching and teaching others about the Bible.
Eliseo believed that you had to experience life, and his life in retirement was no different. When that day finally arrived in 2001, Eliseo took it in stride as one more way to have fun. His new life involved relocating to Las Vegas. In retirement, his joy in gardening and preaching the good news about God's government expanded even more.
