Marvis M. McLean, age 100, of Livonia (formerly of Northville), Michigan passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Marvis was born May 11, 1921 in Detroit to John and Mildred McLean, the third of their eight children.
Marvis graduated from St. Cecilia High School in Detroit in 1938. She attended St. Mary Commercial College and began her career in accounting and bookkeeping for several businesses, including Seymour and Trosher, and the Mavis Beverage Corporation. Outside of work Marvis was fond of golf, reading, playing cards, travel and family vacations. Marvis also enjoyed music, plays and musicals.
Marvis will be remembered as a strong and independent woman with a little bit of Scottish stubbornness. Her sense of humor was a gift to all and a source she would draw on through challenging times. Being young at heart, Marvis was able to relate to friends and family of all generations.
From a family of eight, Marvis is survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
The legacy she leaves for all that knew and loved her is the life-long example of unconditional love, care and support she gave to her family.
Visitation will be on Friday - August 6, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory 133 Orchard Drive, Northville, MI 48167. Burial will be with family at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
