Maxine Gale (Layton) Huffman

Maxine Huffman, 90, of Longview, TX passed away November 1, 2018 in Longview. Maxine was born April 13, 1928 in Eldorado, Kansas to Jessie and Bessie Layton. She married Johnny Melvin Huffman April 21, 1947. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2005. Maxine was a homemaker as well as a caretaker, for the last years of her husband’s life she was the one caring for him. If any kids or grandkids needed to be cared for, ran anywhere while parents were working, she was the one to do it. She loved getting the opportunity to watch the great grandkids play sports, or playing cards and dominoes at the Senior Circle. She especially enjoyed watching sports on television: Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers or the Dallas Mavericks, whichever one was in season, she loved to watch.

Maxine is survived by her son, Johnny Huffman, Jr and his wife Delores of Longview; daughter, Marlene Owen of Longview; daughter, Cheryl Huffman of Plaquemine, LA; grandchildren: Chantel Huffman, Stefanie Patterson, John Owen Brandie Smith and her husband Rob; great grandchildren: Joshua Blalock, Noah Blalock, Brittany Patterson, Spencer Patterson, Isaac Smith, and Owen Smith; one great great grandchild: Athans Blalock. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son-in-law: Robert Owen; grandson: Robert Owen; and twelve brothers and sisters.

A time of visitation with Maxine’s family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX, with her funeral services taking place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, with Rodney Cox and Terry Booker officiating.
