Charles Loring Wikstrom December 12, 1950 - September 12, 2020 Charlie grew up in the bay area of California and attended Archbishop Mitty High School and Santa Clara College where he excelled in football. Always the adventurer, he hitch-hiked across the country in the early 70’s, and made a stop in Fort Collins, Colorado. He returned to California, packed up his VW and returned, making Fort Collins his home. Charlie took a job as a laborer on a construction site and started his career in which he became a master carpenter. He built custom homes and remodel for over 40 years in Northern Colorado and left his touch on many homes and businesses throughout the area. In his 20’s he took up handball and through the sport made many life-long friends. He loved to bicycle tour, and rode many miles and enjoyed touring in Ireland, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Germany, Greece, Spain, England, Scotland, Italy and much of the front range of Colorado. On September 11, 1999 he married Barbara O’Malley (after a short 12 years courting), and they spent 21 wonderful years together. They spent many years travelling around the globe and meeting new friends in far-away places. Later in life they learned to sail and have many happy memories of their beloved British Virgin Island sailing adventures. Charlie lived a full life. He could command a room, always ready to tell a joke, and loved to share a story, over and over! He was a good friend, devoted husband, hard worker and will be missed by many. A gathering will be planned at a later date to celebrate his life.

My family lived next door to the Wikstroms when we were just kids. I have wonderful memories of our families interacting as youngsters. Those are some of the best memories of my life. I see pictures now of Charlie when he was a young man, and that is the Charlie I so distinctly remember. He was a very handsome guy!!! Looking at recent photo's of Charlie near the end of his life he reminds me so much of his late father. It choked me up to see the resemblance. I recall Cathy telling me that Charlie and their late mother were so close during life. Charlie is now reunited with his late beloved parents to share everlasting life filled with happiness, peace and love! God be with you always Charlie, and with all the angels in heaven.

Charlie-his helper on a home patio deck project, snowshoes up the Poudre, FCC, a very original person-I shall fondly remember this Charles Wikstrom! It was a pleasure! Regards

When I first arrived in FC in 2004, Charlie was the first one I met at the FC club; he never failed to be polite, open, and of course quick with his wit. As a physician, I was so impressed with how he could "go on" with the trials of his body failing , yet not complain frequently;also, how he asked questions that reflected his intelligence and objectivity. He will be missed by his friends and hball community, and me...

I am so sad to learn of Charlie's passing. Charlie and I were in the same class at Archbishop Mitty and we played football together for one of our years. (Charlie was much better at the sport than me).

We had many classes together and I remember his quick wit and funny stories. He was a popular guy and respected by many. He was so full of life which makes news of his passing very hard to understand.

Rest in peace, Charlie. It sounds like you had a wonderful life. Good for you; you deserved it.
