She was born in Marysville, CA to John Ivan Norman and Mary Holland Norman. Jerry grew up in South Dakota and Montana, attending Fort Pierre, SD grade school, Billings, MT High School, University of Montana in Missoula and Billings Business College. November 14, 1953 she married Bill Montgomery Burt at Christ the King Catholic Church in Denver, CO. The couple moved to Texas in 1954, living in Plainview for 12 years, Seagraves for 25 years, and Lubbock for 31 years. Her working career included executive secretary with Seagraves Chamber of Commerce/Retail Merchants Association, manager of Andrews Savings & Loan-Seagraves branch, loan secretary at First State Bank of Seagraves, and tax professional with H&R Block.
Jerry and Bill were avid skiers, relishing the vistas they loved. During retirement they enjoyed bridge and were members of several bridge clubs. They were parishioners at Christ the King Cathedral, active in CTK Seniors Social. Jerry was active in Lubbock’s New Neighbors Club and was a food bank volunteer. The last seven years she resided at Carillon Retirement Community.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 66 years, Bill M Burt, her parents, and two of her three brothers.
She is survived by brother John W Norman of Fullerton, CA, daughters Janet Cody of Overland Park, KS, Judy (Dennis) Ashworth of Dallas, TX, and Margie (Steve) Uryasz of Morgantown, WV. Also surviving are grandchildren Alyssa (Corey) Jones, Claire (Max) Walsh, Lauren Cody, Michael (Lauren) Uryasz, Holland (Taylor) McClendon, Reed Cody, Andrew Ashworth, Stephen (Amy Witt) Ashworth, Christopher Uryasz, and great grandchildren Margot Walsh, William Uryasz, Caroline Uryasz, Bridget Walsh, Ben Jones. Services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Cathedral Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 10am. Inurnment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
