Carol Lee Shryock was born on January 10, 1934 in Sumner, OK to parents William Blackburn and Flora (Osten) Young and entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2020 at the age of 86. Carol graduated from Morrison High School as the Valedictorian of 1952. She married Eugene “Harvey” Harting on April 30, 1956. She was remarried to Ernest “Earl” Shryock on March 20, 1971.
While living in the Morrison, OK area she was a farmer/rancher’s wife and bookkeeper for the family business, Harting Feed & Seed for many years. She was an active participant in community events and fund raisers from plays, carnivals and bake sales, to operating concession stands at the high school basketball games. She always enjoyed lake life and camping as well as country & western dancing. She continually supported the Morrison 4-H Club and FFA Chapter at local, county, and state level livestock shows. In 1985 she relocated to the Dallas, TX metroplex.
Retiring from J.C. Penney in 1997, she relocated to Cedar Creek Lake in Mabank, TX permanently. After she retired, she enjoyed traveling to many warm climate destinations and always looked forward to her annual trips to Aruba with close friends. Carol was a very passionate fan of her beloved Dallas Mavericks. She loved to cook and entertain at the lake and was an avid gardener. Her “Friendsgiving” feasts were always a gesture of true kindness from her home fondly known as Carol’s Cabana.
