Macon – James M. “Sleepy” Shepard, Sr. passed away October 16, 2010. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday October 18, 2010 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Rex Odom will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral .
Mr. Shepard was the son of the late William and Mammie Lyles Shepard. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was retired as a Wholesale Distributor for the Macon Telegraph. Mr. Shepard was associated with Heritage at Bass United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Mr. Shepard was also a 2 time Golden Glove winner in the featherweight division.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Shepard; children, Vivian S. Hudson of Macon, and James M. Shepard (Kathy) of Macon; granddaughters, April H. Hollingsworth, Amber S. Peacock, Leila Shepard, and Michelle Shepard; great grandchildren, Macy, Kala, Logan and Seelie; Brother, Charles “Buck” Shepard (Frances) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
