

Mattie Carroll Pierce, 86, went home to be with the Lord, June 29, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Welch officiating. The family will greet friends from 7-9 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2011 at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Columbus, GA to the late Bessie Mae Carroll and Fred B. Carroll. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a former member of Shurlington Baptist Church where she taught K5 Sunday School for 16 years and helped with the bus ministry. She graduated from Lanier High School. Mrs. Pierce retired from Robins Air Force Base with 36 years of service as inventory manager. She loved life, people, flower gardening, music, and painting. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her Lord most of all.
Mrs. Pierce is survived by her daughters, Ginger P. Coone of Lizella, GA and Robin C. Carpenter of of Cleveland TN, son-in-laws Steve Coone of Lizella and Doug Carpenter of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Joshua, April, Jacob, and Heather.
The family would like to thank the Three Rivers Home Health, Hospice Advantage, and Coliseum Hospital for their care, love and support during their mother’s illness. A special thanks to Jeanette Coone and Van Spencer for being loving caregivers, during our mother’s journey with Alzheimer’s.
