He was born July 15, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York to Irving and Tillie Lazansky. Howard grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn where he attended Lafayette High School and then graduated with a Master’s Degree from Long Island University. He had a successful career in the handbag business in New York City.
Howard raised his family in Bellmore, NY and, after retirement, settled in the Westlake community in Jackson, NJ. He had an upbeat spirit and loved connecting with people and bringing people together. Howard was very active throughout his life helping others and organized numerous community programs to commemorate key events like September 11 and Holocaust Remembrance Day – as well as fundraising programs for causes such as Autism New Jersey, UNICEF, freedom in Ukraine, and the United Jewish Appeal.
Howard loved his family most of all and is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Toby; daughter Karen Lazan and her husband Jonathan Lester; son Michael Lazan and his wife, Eleanor Acer; granddaughters, Olivia and Phoebe Lazan; and grandson Owen Lester.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, New Jersey, followed by the interment service at 2:30 PM at Wellwood Cemetery, 1232 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, New York.

o Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
