

Lilyan was the daughter of Alexander and Molly Aven of NYC. She was born in the Bronx and grew up in Pelham Parkway section on Holland Avenue. She lived in Aberdeen Township for 31 years before retiring to Sarasota, Florida, and returned to New Jersey this August to be closer to her family.
Prior to retiring, she was an Educator-Clinician for UMDNJ Therapeutic Nursery, Newark, New Jersey. She graduated with a Master of Arts in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Hunter College and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in accounting from Baruch CUNY. Member of Kappa Delta Pi and International Honor Society in Education.
A loving wife, the greatest mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. A well respected and caring educator; she always saw the world through rose colored glasses even in the face of adversity.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard whom she was married to for 54 years. She is survived by her devoted children Brian Wolfe and daughter in law, Dr. Lisa Wolfe of Chicago, and Stacey Wolfe Kalb and son in law Alan Kalb of Beachwood, New Jersey; her most precious grandchildren, Abby and David Wolfe, and Trevor Kalb; sister Rochelle Feiertag and brother in law Alan Feiertag of Delray Beach, Florida; brother in law Roger Wolfe and sister-in-law, Jess Wolfe of NYC; sister-in-law Ronni Wolfe of Seattle, Washington; sister in law Evelyn Aven of Hemet, California; Cousin Norma Bonk; many loving nieces and nephews and her two life-long best friends Nora Levin and Flora Zeytoonian.
Lilyan enjoyed world travel and fine dining with Richard, music, reading, theatre, discussing politics, playing the piano and spending time with her grandchildren and her wonderful friends.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday November 19, 2017 at (11:00AM) at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, New Jersey and shiva immediately following will be held at Lilyan’s home located at 216 Sophee Lane, Lakewood, NJ. Her children will be sitting Shiva Monday from 12pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9PM, Tuesday 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm and Wed 6pm- 9pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Susan G.
