Raymond Stauffer

Raymond C. Stauffer, age 89, of Mansfield died Thursday evening, July 15, 2004 at Country Meadows nursing home in Bellville. Raymond was born in Monroe County, Ohio on March 3, 1915 to Ernest and Lucy Book Stauffer. As a child they moved to a farm near Shelby where he grew up and graduated from Mansfield Senior High in the class of 1933. Raymond was a WWII veteran and retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Mansfield. He enjoyed gardening and traveling. He was a frequent guest at Atlantic City and spent some winters in Arizona.

Mr. Stauffer is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of sixty-seven years; three children, JoAnn and Ken Johnson of Ontario, Richard and Dianna Stauffer of Mansfield, and Jeanette and Raj Mittra of State College, PA; four grandchildren, Andrea Drew Shifley, Kevin Johnson, Melissa Tim Shira, and Steven Stauffer; a great grandchild, Chloe Shira; a brother, John Stauffer of Mansfield; and a sister, Mae Shaffner of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Nellie Summers.

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday, July 18, 2004 from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Bruce Copley, will be held Monday, July 19, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
