Kimberly was always happy and smiling. She brought joy to everyone she met. She was dearly loved by all her family and her teachers and the students in Tucker High School. She was selected a Homecoming Maid this past October. Everyone in her school waited to see the bows she would have in her hair when she arrived each morning.
Although Kimberly was confined to a wheel chair and needed total care she always found a way to smile. She came out of more than 30 surgeries smiling and saying "mama". Her first words were "My Mama". And her last words were "mama", "mama", "mama".
Kimberly left us on January 22nd but was kept on life support in order for her to donate her organs. On January 29 at 2:13 am she went into the operating room to have them removed and she left the OR at 7:24 am. Our Princess was able to help 4 people live and 1 or 2 to be able to see. She donated her kidneys, liver and eyes. She will live on in the lives of those who received the gift of life from her.
Kimberly could hear a song one time and when she heard it again she would sing along with it. She had the tune but it was hard to understand her words. She had the biggest smile and the most beautiful, sweet voice.
Kimberly was her mama's heartbeat. If you asked her "Whose heartbeat are you?" she would answer "Mama's". Her favorite person (other mom and dad) was Dr. Robert Bruce, her Orthopedic Surgeon. She absolutely adored him. There was never a doubt that he felt the same way about her.
This world is a better place for her being here. She taught many people to accept those with special needs. She is greatly missed by her parents and brothers who look for her every day. They do not understand why she left and never came back.
Her cremation was handled by The Neptune Society of Atlanta, Ga. Her organ donation was handled by Life Link of Georgia. The Georgia Eye Bank, Inc. handled her eye donation.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date at Tucker High School.
In memory of Kimberly, please consider becoming an organ donor.
