Glenford Jackson Stowe was born in Manzanilla, Trinidad, West Indies on November 24, 1947 to the late Enid Lambert Stowe and David Glenroy Stowe. Glenford received his education at Nariva Government School and Bates High School. In 1965, at the age of 18, Glenford joined the Trinidad Police Academy where he served for two years before moving to the States. Glenford worked various jobs during the six years that he resided in Canada. In 1971, he relocated to Brooklyn, New York. During that time, Glenford attended Bronx Community College where he studied business. On July 7, 1973, Glenford married the love of his life, Linda Mussio Stowe. From their union, they conceived two children, Roxanne and Dwayne. Glenford was a hard worker. He served as a security guard for many years with Madison Square Garden and Shea Stadium. Glenford worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) for 32 years (1979-2011) before retiring. During his tenure with MTA, he assisted with the clean-up crew during the aftermath of 9/11. After retirement, Glenford truly began to enjoy his life and free time. Glenford was a family man and he absolutely loved and cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, fishing, soccer, singing, dancing, and listening to music. Mexico, Alaska, Italy, Hawaii, Barcelona, and several Caribbean Islands are just a few of the extravagant trips he enjoyed. Glenford also loved to attend Carnival in Trinidad annually. Although retired, Glenford remained involved with the MTA Retirees Breakfast Club as the treasurer. He enjoyed monthly meetings with all of the fellas that he worked with and those whom became his closest friends. In July 2018, Glenford began to have challenges with his health which continued to decline over the past year. In September 2019, Glenford and his wife relocated to Georgia to be closer to his son’s family. While in Georgia, Glenford was very happy and enjoyed every moment with his grandchildren, son and daughter in law. Glenford was preceded in death by his sister, Gwendolyn Stowe. He leaves to cherish his memory: loving and devoted wife, Linda Stowe; daughter, Roxanne Stowe; son, Dwayne Stowe; daughter in law, Latrice Stowe, beautiful granddaughter, Laila Stowe; handsome grandson, Dwayne Stowe Jr. (D.J.); sister, Merlin Stowe; brother, Earl Stowe; sister, Nelcia Stowe; sister, Patricia Stowe; sister, Sherma Stowe; brother, Dexter Stowe, brother, Lester Stowe; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Stowe will be held at 11:00am on November 9, 2019 at Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
