Emily Frances Giarrizzo, 92, peacefully left this world on August 13, 2019, surrounded by her family in Mesa, Arizona.
Emily is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Joel & Phyllis, John & Roberta, Jay & Debbie, Jason & Christine, plus 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, close friend, Debbie Brassell, many nephews and nieces, along with other dear friends and extended family.
Born August 27, 1926, to John & Frances (Sledzik) Linkowski in Albion, New York, she was the youngest of four siblings (Florence, John, Irene). After graduating from Albion High in 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Giarrizzo, in 1947. They had four sons, and remained together until Joe passed away in 2010.
Emily and Joe moved to Mesa, Arizona, in 1967 and opened 4 Sons Realty in 1970. They operated the real estate company until Joe became ill in 1984. After that Emily joined Coldwell Banker and worked in real estate until she retired in 2000.
Emily greatly enjoyed travelling to parts of Europe and taking island cruises, solving crossword puzzles, playing cards, and hosting meals. She was a regular attender and supporter of Grace Covenant Church since 1985. Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She loved family get-togethers, which she hosted often, and was always the life of the party.
Emily leaves behind a legacy of love for her family and friends, laughter, kind hospitality, and many, many funny stories. A memorial service will be held at Grace Covenant Church, 1255 N. Greenfield Rd, Gilbert, AZ, on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Grace Covenant Church mission’s fund.
