The last time we were together at your condo in Miami, I had mentioned how much I liked the palm frond with stones and tea lights on your table you had created.  The next time you visited me in Tampa, you brought this one you made especially for me.  
You were always so thoughtful, sharing kindness and love.
Remembering you today my dear friend with the warmest thoughts and best memories.


Three years gone. How are we doing down here, Arlene? I’m so grateful for your friendship, your patient leadership at work (in the Development Department) and your wonderful sense of humor. I loved our morning chats over coffee, and you taught me that coffee makes a great dessert after lunch. Rest sweetly, my friend. 

Arleen's light shines on, albeit now in our hearts and memories. May her memory be for  a blessing. Still missing you, Arleen. 

Could it be that long ago when you walked into our Hebrew School class and lit up the room with a smile? May your soul brighten the heavens as you brightened the world here.

Arleen, you were my villa mate for just over a year! We became great friends and looked out for each other! Thank you being an important part of my life! I miss you every day!

I met Arleen decades ago  when we both worked for the City of Miami on several land use/development projects.  A wonderful, brilliant  "Renaissance Woman", always interested in what was going on, and always fun to listen to.   I was shocked to learn of her passing. It has now been one year, and I still cannot quite realize she  is gone. Although after leaving the City we rarely connected,  we both agreed that we would get together when we both were less busy in our post-City lives.  Chatting with her at Beth David, where she introduced me to her family, reminiscing about Coral Park High (I graduated in '71), discussing life after the city,  I am so sorrowful I didn't make the time to do more with Arleen.  Her untimely death, after courageously conquering  her health issues years before, saddens me even now, a year later.  She will always be missed. Miriam Maer

Arleen and I met during the summer of 1977 working together in the pre-opening office for the new Somerset Marriott Hotel in New Jersey.  We became the closest of friends and no matter where our careers took us or we were lived, we always stayed in touch and met up with each other.  Our last time together was in 2018 in Miami, and we had planned to see each other in Daytona the weekend of April 4 last year.   There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss my beautiful friend.  She brought such joy to my life, as I know she did to all of her family and friends.  Arleen will always be in my heart.

Its been a year, May her soul be bound up in gan even, in eternal bliss


I am so sorry to learn of Arlene's passing. I was her neighbor in Miami Beach for many years and she was a lovely woman, neighbor, landlord and all around human being. She had that rare quality of being both interesting and interested. She also shared my son's birthday and not a year would go by without me thinking of her on their special day. 

My sincerest condolences to Arlene's family and friends. I will always remember her kindness and humor.

I just learned the other day from Albert Ruder of Arleen's passing. I knew Arleen from her time in the City of MIami government. She was a very hard working public servant who always just had a very pleasant smile and was genuine nice, caring person. She had a passion for her career and  truly took pride in her job serving the citizens and the overall business and civic community in Miami.   

As our Torah teaches with translation may Arleen rest in peace.

I am so heartbroken to hear the news of Arlene’s passing-
I grew up with Arlene and Hal in Westchester, Miami.  My sister Bonnie Nadel Mittman who recently passed away was best friends with Arlene in high school. Arlene and Bonnie reconnected a few years ago and Bonnie got to celebrate her 60th birthday with Arlene and Susan Morgan. My sister loved Arlene.  I was able to spend some time with and speak to Arlene after Bonnie passed away- in fact I still have the most beautiful voicemail from her regarding my sister’s tragic death.
Arlene was shocked. She consoled me when I was inconsolable. She was a beautiful person-
My heart goes out to Hal and family and I offer my heartfelt condolences and sympathy

I can't express how disheartening it was for me to have just found out the very sad news that Arleen passed away almost 5 months ago. We both worked for the City of Miami government for many years where I found her to be a very competent public servant who always performed her job with the utmost integrity.  I thought back to the late 1990's, when Arleen and myself were part of a group of city officials who traveled to Japan on a sister city mission. As a person, Arleen was a very kind and caring human being.  I fondly remember the happiness it brought her to give her beloved dog Jake a home after she found him abandoned on Watson Island.  There could not have been a better pet parent to Jake as she gave him the best life that a dog could ever hope to have.  In our post City of Miami lives, I was fortunate enough to run into her on numerous occasions because she happened to live in the same Miami Beach apartment building where a friend of mine resided. I can recall once sharing with her how concerned I was over my dog's back problems and she immediately came to the rescue by recommending a veterinarian who turned out to be a life saver. The last time I saw her was probably about 4 years ago and I now regret not having kept in touch with her nor spending more time whenever I was with her.  Although I know that she is in a much better place, I'm having great difficulties coming to grips with the fact that she is no longer with us.  I will miss her and know that my life was enriched as a result of having known her for more than 30 years.  She left us way too soon but while here, she made this world a much better place for all of us to live in.  Rest in peace Arleen - you were appreciated and respected by those whose life you touched and will always be remembered for the quality person you were !

I will never forget the kindness and generosity of my friend Arleen. She cared with her heart first and her very kind soul. She always had great taste in her artistic pursuits, whether it was her collection of Fiestaware, ceramics, jewelry, clothes, exterior and interior design and architecture.  She worked tirelessly to restore and care for the Miami Beach apt. building and neighbors and hosted many parties in the courtyard. Halloween at 47th & Prairie was always fun because Arleen wanted to make it a place for all the neighborhood kids to enjoy. I'll miss her and can still hear her laugh! May she rest in peace.

My prayers are with your family. I am thinking of you during this time.  I am very saddened RIP Arleen, your sweet soul will be missed!

I haven’t known Arleen a long time, but I’ve known her long enough to realize that she’s an angel.
She is always kind and generous. She is a true lady; so refined, (elegant and cultured),  yet so strong.
Arleen is the epitome of beauty, inside and out.

Arleen was a dear dear friend growing up in Westchester. We played together, rode our bicycles together and had little turtles together. We reconnected again, spoke on the phone and planned to visit.
