Faye Swenson Barkett, age 71, passed away April 20, 2014. She was born in Pipestone, Minnesota, and had lived in Middleburg for 35 years. Faye was the person who founded the First Lighted Annual Christmas Parade in Middleburg. She served in the US Air Force and was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband William “Bill” Barkett, sons: Donald and James Barkett, daughters: Barbara Vedas and Jeannie Malone, brother, Bert Swenson, and 3 grandchildren: Brandi, Maegan and Morgan. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10:30 AM, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Middleburg, with Father Joe Meehan officiating.
