Arthur Krensky, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away just before midnight (both literally and figuratively) on New Year’s Eve at the age of 89.
He was born in 1931 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Teresa Hirshberg Krensky and Harry Krensky. He attended Northeastern University and Columbia University Graduate School of Business. Arthur served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Greenland.
He was raised in Brookline, Massachusetts where he met his wife and lifelong partner, Doris, whom he married in 1954. Arthur and Doris were happily married for 61 years. They met on a blind date and spent a lifetime creating adventures and forging new paths together. They built their own house, gardened, cooked, travelled, and explored the great outdoors.
Arthur lost his beloved wife Doris in 2017, after her long battle with cancer. Doris was his soul-mate and she was profoundly missed after her passing. Doris cared for Arthur after he suffered a stroke in 2010, which left him without the full use of the right side of his body.
Arthur loved fresh squeezed orange juice, New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles, history, and the PBS News Hour. He was known to take the “road less travelled” throughout his life. He had an eclectic career in business and entrepreneurial pursuits, which focused on sustainable energy and building products. He was a visionary, who was ahead of his time.
Arthur lived a very full life. He was an intrepid traveler and explorer—through the wilds of Utah and across the globe. He was drawn to adventure, was optimistic and resilient to setbacks. Until the very end (“10 minutes to midnight” as he used to say), undaunted by the limitations of his body and the loss of his love, he longed for one last adventure, entrepreneurial success, and world travel.
Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris.
Arthur is survived by his children: Harry (Linda), Beth (Edward), Beverly (Bob), and his 4 grandchildren: Enzo, Cole, Tess and Zev.
Husband, father, grandfather, dreamer, and traveler…you will be missed.
In Arthur’s memory please consider making a donation to Jewish Family Service or do something to help protect the wilderness.
