Rafael Harold Christian “Dago or R.H.”, age 95, passed away on February 26, 2018 in Milton, FL. He was born in Galliver, FL on November 23, 1922 to Wilburn and Reba Christian. Mr. Christian served over 20 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer at Whiting Field. During the years of 1982-1985, he was a Chaplain of the Fleet Reserve. He also served as a Florida Conservation Officer and a Deputy Sheriff in Santa Rosa County but finally retired as a beekeeper. His favorite pastime was gardening and spending time with family.
“Dago” is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Shirley Irene Christian and his son, Harold Glen Christian. He is survived by two daughters; Shirleen Nowak of Kentucky and Beth (Brock) Dalton of Milton, FL, one brother; Wilburn Christian of Bagdad, FL and 2 sister in-laws. He is also survived by grandchildren; Raymon (Cynthia) Ingram, Tonia Milton-Damerow, John Nowak, Jennifer (John) Coe, Regina (James) Akers, Krista (Dennis) Dawkins, Teresa (Troy) Stone, Angela (Dustin) Gray, Justin (Savana) Phelps, Jarod (Cathy) Phelps, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be Friday, March 2, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a funeral service at 12 p.m. at National Cremation & Burial Society. An interment will immediately follow at Memory Park Cemetery.
