Vivian M. Lowery

Vivian was employed as a nurse for over 30 years. She retired as Supervisor of Nursing at the Santa Rosa County Health Department in Milton, Florida.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband William A. Lowery, son William R. Lowery, grandson Christopher R. Small, parents James R. and Ruth H. Moss, three brothers; James Moss, Frank Moss, and Robert Moss, along with sister Adrienne Moss Petro.

Surviving Vivian are her daughter Caroline Small and son-in-law Ronnie Small, grandsons James L. Small and Jonathan R. Small, and three sisters; Carol Moss McDaniel, Maureen Moss West, and Gail E. Moss, all of Milton, Florida.

Vivian graduated from Pensacola State College with a Nursing Degree and served as a nurse in many capacities: from hospitals, to home health, school health nurse, and eventually Supervisor of Nursing for the Santa Rosa County Health Department. She was deeply loved and missed by the staff at the health department following her retirement. The ladies she closely worked with often called to talk with her and check on her. Vivian was an extremely smart business woman. Self-taught and well versed on many topics of business, finance, and investment; she was always planning ahead. She possessed great wisdom and foresight for a better future for her children and grandchildren. She left behind a great legacy of love and personal sacrifice for her family.

She adored her children and grandchildren. She was a devout Christian in the Baptist faith. She loved listening to ministries on television. She was an avid reader and loved to read the Bible.

Vivian struggled with Diabetes and Dementia for many years. She cared for her late husband, William Lowery, who also passed from Dementia. Vivian spent the last several years of her life cared for and comforted at home, surrounded by her family. She passed peacefully. Her sweet smile (dimpled) and caring green eyes will be forever etched in our fondest memories.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10 a.m. at National Cremation & Burial Society in Milton, Florida with an interment to follow at Serenity Gardens.
