Regina Lois Duff Gibson

Lois Duff Gibson age 87, born November 4, 1925, in Mobile, Alabama, and a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 31, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. She grew up in Oakdale, attending Saint Matthews Grammar School, and graduated from Bishop Toolen High School in 1943. Lois was an accomplished seamstress and known for making school uniforms for students at the Parochial Schools. She was employed with Zundel's Jewelry for numerous years, and in her spare time, she loved to cook and cater weddings and parties for friends. Lois was a volunteer in many Port City Pacers events, including the Azalea Trail Run, and she loved and supported the Junior Miss Pageant. She was a devout member of Little Flower Catholic Church and later at Saint Matthews Catholic Church. Having grown up on the Gulf Coast, she loved everything to do with Mobile Bay - fishing, crabbing, boating and swimming.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold Joseph "Gipper" Gibson, daughter Regina Gibson Baldwin, granddaughter Autumn Dunlap Gibson, parents, John and Bessie Strachan Duff, sisters, Mary Elizabeth Boyes and Fidelis Haskins, and brothers, Jack Duff and Louis Duff.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ronald Lee Gibson (Brenda), Mary Lynn Gibson Williams (Paul), Garrett Michael Gibson (Sharon), Harold Stephen Gibson (Linda), Martha Gibson Walker (Jim) and Terry Gibson Hess (John); 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchilden; sisters, Patricia Duff Dumas and Rose Marie Duff Murphy; and many relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Matthews Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama, on Monday, November 4, 2013, from 5 - 8 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Saint Matthews Catholic Church.
