
Florence Gerrish Santangini. 97, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013. She was a life-long resident of Montgomery and was a great, great niece of Dr. Samuel Doak Holt, the first elected Mayor of Montgomery. She was a retired member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists which she both served well and loved. She was an exceptional ambassador of good will to leaders of many nations whom she had met in her world-wide travels. She worked diligently in many campaigns years ago to restore respectability and economic freedom. In the course of which she and her husband of 71 years were privileged to have served as hosts on one of Ronald Reagan’s visits to Alabama. She is survived by her husband Andrew V. “Santy” Santangini; Sons: Andrew V. Santangini, Jr. of Colquitt, Georgia and John (Barbara) Santangini of Denver, Co.; granddaughters: Laura Creed of Southern Pines, NC and Elizabeth Bolin of Jackson, MS and 2 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of the Ascension or the Nicholas Meriwether Chapter of the Daughters of American Colonists.
