

James Edward Spearin, 67, was born on June 8, 1943 in Portland, Maine and was welcomed into the kingdom by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 30, 2011. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving wife, Brenda, his children and grandchildren.
Jim served proudly in the USAF and served his country as a flight engineer during the Vietnam War. He received the Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, Good Conduct Medal with 4 devices, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, NCO Prof. Military Education Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Ribbon with 3 devices, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 devices, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation with 1 device, Air Force Outstanding Award with 4 devices and The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired after 21 years of service as a Master Sergeant. He then began a second career at the Conoco Plant in Westlake, LA. He retired after 16 years.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Brenda Spearin of Moss Bluff; sister, Carol Gagliardo of Norwich, CT; six daughters, Tammy McEvoy and husband, Jeff of Colorado Springs, CO, Christine Hebert of Lake Arthur, LA, Debra Hinojosa and husband, Frank of San Antonio, TX, Lori Frye and husband, Steven, of Spring, TX, Angie Scharff and husband, Tim of Moss Bluff, Kelly Wilcox and husband, Lynn of Salem, WV; aunt, Dorothy Murray of Lisbon, CT; 23 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was greatly loved and admired by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Murray; brother, Richard Murray and his sister, Pam Walter.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Rev. Shawn will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday 3-9 p.m. and again on Thursday at 8 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake.
