It is with profound sadness that the family of Ralph Borgerson announce his peaceful passing on the 23rd of March at the age of 86 years. In the weeks before his passing, Ralph was surrounded by his loving wife Peggy, and their children Frank (Kim), Karen (Dwayne), and Bruce, as well as his sister Ann (Don).
Ralph was born on September 24,1936 in Smeaton Saskatchewan and moved to Nanaimo, where he spent his childhood and adolescence. Here he met the love of his life, Peggy, they married in 1958 and moved to Calgary where they raised their three children.
Ralph maintained a long working career as a sheet metal journeyman and retired at the age of 55. During his transition into retirement, Ralph continued to work hard at building and renovating homes in Calgary and High River. A great passion of Ralph’s was classic cars, and he spent many hours reconstructing his pride 1953 Buick Roadmaster. This cherry red classic was a joy for him and all the family to take a Sunday drive in and always stop for ice cream on the way. His creativity in metal and woodworking has always given a great sense of pride to all his family and friends.
Returning to Nanaimo in 1995, Ralph continued to establish and maintain friendships that have spanned decades. During this return he also graciously volunteered with Habitat For Humanity for well over a decade. His volunteer works also included driving a shuttle between Nanaimo and Victoria for people undergoing cancer treatments. Ralph humbly assisted many families and individuals with this work, and it is a true testament to his character.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Alida, and sister Doris. He is survived by his wife Peggy, brothers Orville, and Owen, sister Ann (Don) and sister-in-law Gwendda (Ken)as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including extended family.
Papa to Evan (Melinda) and Gillian, Great Papa to Henry and Annie and beloved friend to many, he will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital or a charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated.
