at times. In the end, the importance of those things become apparent although
we may never realize it.
Maria Del Carmen R Borden did and said many things that impacted each of
our lives tremendously! All of us siblings know that she missed her calling as a
drill sergeant while her ever so gentle, subtle voice pierced the neighborhood
reminding them of our entire birth given names. We also know that spotting
Sasquatch or finding a unicorn was far more common than her ability to
concede. We personally have never witnessed this millennial event but tales do
have it that it may have happened at least once!??
Carmen, our Mom had the God given talent for cooking amazing food and
feeding anyone and everyone to the point of near human combustion... God
help you if you didn’t have seconds or finish it whether you liked it or not!
Throughout her work life she excelled in all that she did including creating a
successful real estate business. Albeit her demeanor at times, may have even
convinced the devil he needed a home in the Arctic just to get her to leave him
alone!
As our mother, she left us with many lessons learned. We often did not agree
with her abrasive methods or approach. In retrospect, all of those things we
thought were wrong and insignificant in reality taught us to become more
loving, caring, and present parents.
She always told us upon her passing she would find a way to let us know she
was there, some of us might find that comforting or antagonizing, because
that’s who she was. Dance with the angels mom you will be loved and may you rest
in peace.
