Kathy passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021 at the age of 84 after a 25 year battle with early onset Alzheimer’s. Left to cherish her memory is her dedicated and devoted husband John of 62 years, children Alvin (Kitty Leong) Quiring, Hedy (Ron) Paslawski, Del (Shereen Farrell) Quiring, Frances Giesbrecht, Walter Quiring; 12 grandchildren, the initial being Bruce (Cat) Bonneteau, Rachelle (Ryan Pasuta) Bonneteau; 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings Marie Hull, Jack Wiens, Margaret (John) Heppner, John (Cheryl) Wiens, Ann Wiens and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Maria Wiens, son Roland, twin granddaughters Katherine and Annette Bonneteau, brother-in-law Robyn Hull and sister-in-law Ruth Wiens.
Kathy was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. As a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, hosting large family events, coffee time with her friends and cake decorating. She greatly enjoyed music (achieved grade 9 piano) and loved to play Christian hymns and classical music. Kathy enjoyed nature - birdwatching, star gazing, taking pictures after a snowstorm and watching the annual spring river ice breakup. She was always excited and ready to travel, tent or canoe at a moment’s notice.
A special thank you to Simkin Centre (Weinberg3) who we consider our extended family for close to 14 years of care for Kathy. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to SimkinCentre.ca in memory of Kathy.
Mom we will miss you, but know you are in God’s Hands and singing with the Angels.
Due to COVID-19, there will be a private family burial at Green Acres, followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date.
