Mildred Courrege Rodrigue

RYNELLA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mildred Courrege Rodrigue, age 90, at 10:00 am Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Fr. Gene Tremie will be the celebrant. Mrs. Rodrigue will be laid to rest beside her husband in the church mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Friday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.

Mildred was born October 5, 1924 in New Iberia to the late Lucien Courrege and the late Theresa Drouet Courrege, and passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 03, 2015 at Dauterive Hospital with her family at her side.

Mildred, known by family and friends as “Baby,” was a homemaker and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her children, Kenneth P. Rodrigue of New Iberia, Bonnie R. Holman of Sugarland, TX, and Annette R. Corkern and husband Keith of Pride, LA; six grandchildren, Maria R. Martinez, Brent Holman, Stuart Holman, Ariane Rodrigue, Jeff Corkern and Clay Corkern; and three great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond P. Rodrigue; her daughters, Catherine Rodrigue and Dolly Marcel; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Rodrigue; grandson, Blake Corkern; and her siblings, Viola Peltier, Marjorie Glorioso, Carroll Courrege, Eldridge Courrege and Dorothy Lewis.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Rodrigue’s name to the Louisiana Special Olympics, 1000 East Morris Avenue, Hammond, LA 70403.
