On Thursday, July 26, 2018 Benjamin “Ben” Puyper left this world for a better place after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Lillie Mae Puyper. He is survived by his brother Hector Puyper, cherished sister in law, Gloria Burkett and Gloria's two sons Bill and his wife Cecelia and Bob and his wife Terry along with Bob Glaser and his wife Dianne. Their families will also miss “Uncle Ben” as he was known by nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
During his lifetime he was dedicated to his wife, family and friends. He retired after many years of service with Exxon and has lived the past 29 years in Tchefuncta Club Estates among many friends and relatives. Ben is a proud veteran and served honorably in the US Navy. He was a member of the Exxon Retiree’s Club, Knights of Columbus, several rosary groups and the esteemed ROB’S of Tchefuncta Club Estates. Ben was a memorable storyteller and always had a joke ready for any occasion.
Special recognition should be given to the principals and employees of St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Passages Hospice in New Orleans for their caring, compassionate, professional attention to Ben in his final days among us. The family wishes to express a sincere "Thank You" to this group of wonderful caregivers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville, LA on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Ben's memory to the St. Anselm Catholic Church, Building Fund.
