He served in the Army for three years. He was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and served as a Treasurer. (Doc) was the co-owner and Master Electrician at Phelps Electric.
Dolphes was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jean Phelps and sister, Patricia Patton.
He is survived by wife, Nancy Phelps; his daughters, Pamela Dunville (Donald), Carol Hudson (Kenneth) and Julie Mildred Phelps; son, Steven Baker (Katherine); step-sons, Jeffrey and Charles Sanders; grandchildren, Jay Simmons, Amanda Dunville, Sarah Dunville, Kaitlin Harpenau (Matt) and Lauren Baker; great-grandchildren, Tesia Simmons, Dylan Simmons and Max Nickens; sisters, Marsha Armstrong and Karen Payne, and brother, Kenneth Phelps.

A Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 10, 2020 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Garry Lanham, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2020 and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
