Daniel R. “Ray” O’Connor, 78, born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, of Oak Lawn, IL, passed away December 31, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Catherine nee Reidy from Co. Kerry, Ireland; loving father of Tara O’Connor (Jim Slusarczyk), Brian O’Connor, and the late Daniel O’Connor; cherished grandfather of Keena O’Connor, Kara Seiler, D J Lipke, Skye Lipke, and Cassie Slusarczyk; fond brother of 12 siblings; and dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Ray was born in Belfast in 1939 to Amelia and Daniel O’Connor. He was the third oldest of thirteen children. After immigrating to the United States, Ray served in the US Army. After the Army, he joined the Chicago Police Department and retired as a Sergeant in the 13th District.
Family and friends will meet to honor his life with a memorial visitation Saturday, January 27, 2017 from 9:00am until time of funeral mass 10:00am at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 10621 S Kedvale Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. Interment private.
