March 31, 1930 – April 22, 2018
Art was born in Naicam, Saskatchewan and passed away suddenly in Kona, Hawaii, leaving behind his wife of nearly 62 years, Pamela; his children, Robert (Carolyn), Cathy, Ron, (Deborah) and Carole (Mark), his grandchildren; Michael, Dennis, Jennifer, Emily, Brandon, Thomas, Nicholas, Sarah, Matthew and his brother, Norm. Art's family moved to East Vancouver in 1943. He completed high school at King Edward, and then earned a degree as a Mechanical Engineer at UBC. Art and Pam met at UBC and married shortly after graduation. They moved around BC for a few years before settling in North Vancouver. Art retired from his job as Manager of Registration for the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC in 1995. He spent many years volunteering with a variety of organizations. Art was a founding member of the Vancouver Engineers Club, and was active with the Kiwanis Club for over 30 years. He was especially proud of his work serving as Board Chairman of the Kiwanis Care Centres in North Vancouver. As a longtime Legion member, Art and Pam had many Friday night dates over the years at the local Legion. Art was devoted to his family and truly valued his friendships. He was always ready for some friendly competition, be it curling, playing a round of golf, or playing a game of cribbage or bridge. He had a great sense of humour, and loved a good joke.We will forever cherish the memories of our time with him. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Boal Chapel 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver; Reception to follow. .
