Remembering Mom

With profound sadness and broken hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and Omi, Bårbel (Barbara) Leeb on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the North Shore Hospice & Palliative Centre at the age of 79.

Barbara Leeb was born Bårbel Kosina in Litzmannstadt, Poland, March 18, 1942, and was the eldest of three (Ingrid and Gerd). Mom’s family left Poland for Austria where she would meet her would be husband, Rainer Karl Leeb and, once married, moved to Canada that would become their adopted home.

Predeceased by her husband Rainer Leeb (2008) mom will be lovingly missed by her daughters Patricia and Kimberley, her son-in-law Rick and her cherished grandchildren Kyle & Cole.

Bårbel leaves behind many family and friends here in Canada as well as in her native Vienna.

Mom will be fondly remembered for her subtle ability to speak her mind, and for always having a smile on her face.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

A memorial will be held at the First Memorial Funeral Services & Boal Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, on Saturday, 24 July 2021 from 10:00-11:00am.

Thank you for being my Mom. I know it was hard for you at the beginning when you first arrived in Canada as you did not speak English but you made it work the best way you knew how. I will carry on the traditions you taught me and continue to embrace our heritage. My boys and I will sadly miss your company, but will treasure our memories forever.
