RUGGIER – Alfred, born in Suez, Egypt on October 30, 1925, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Mackenzie Health Hospital, Richmond Hill, Ontario, comforted by the rites of the Holy Catholic Church and surrounded by his family.

Alfred lived in Suez until the age of 3 years, when his family returned to Malta.

In December 1981, together with his beloved wife Maria and seven children, he emigrated from his homeland of Malta to Canada.

He is deeply mourned by his surviving children, Paul (Fabiana), Fred (Ann), Louis (Violet), Mario, Anna (Adrian), and Marisa (Grant), daughter in law Julia; his beloved grandchildren Heidi, Sarah, Simon, Jessica, Cristina, Joshua, Rachelle, Julia, Luciana, Ayana and Martina; great-grandchildren Evelyn and Alan; his brother Edgar, and numerous nephews and nieces, relatives and friends in Malta, Canada, Ireland, United States, UK, Australia, South Africa, and Kenya.

He was predeceased by Maria, his beloved wife of 53 years, and eldest son Joseph.

Visitation will be held at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St, Toronto, Ontario (M2M3W9) on Thursday, September 17th, at 3:30 to 6:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at 4:30 pm.

Funeral Mass and Services, praesente cadavere, will be held at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, in Thornhill, Ontario, on Friday, September 18th, at 9:30 am.

As per his wishes, Alfred will be repatriated and interred at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery, Malta. Lord grant him eternal rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in Alfred’s memory to ShareLife ( https://sharelife.org/ ) in Canada or the Ursuline Creche (Institutes & Children's Homes), Triq Bordin, Pieta’, Malta PTA 1235 (+356-21235121/21231458) in Malta.
