He was born on June 24, 1940 in Beverly MA, to Bertha Landry and Daniel D. Curran, and was raised by his stepfather George Pousland. Dan entered the Navy and served his country in Vietnam and several capacities until his retirement. Thereafter, he was a civilian employee at the US Sub Base Groton, CT until retiring from there.
He loved the ocean and being on the water fishing or just relaxing. He also loved wildlife spending hours day and night watching them in his yard and got to know the birds at his birdfeeders. He loved his grandchildren more than anything in the world and was always there for them. He was very involved in the VA in Norwich and was a member of the Yantic Fire Company for many years until he retired. He was very supportive of his wife in her many fights for doing what was right and always helping those in need. They were happily married and in love and are now together again.
On March 4th, 1961 he married his beloved wife Rosemary “Rose” (Cohn) who predeceased him in 2010. Together they had 3 children; Daniel J. Curran Jr of FL, Kathryn E. LaFleur of LA, Jennifer J Waters of Uncasville, and is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a niece, Tracie Dalton of MA.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday at 9am at Maplewood Cemetery, 182 Salem Tnpk., Norwich, CT. There are no calling hours.
