Lawrence E. Williams, Sr., 58, of Afton passed away on Tuesday February 5, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Cortland to the late Robert W. and Betty L. Williams. He was also predeceased by his grandson, Kaden Williams in 2010. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sharon; his children, Christopher and Patricia Underwood, Holly Williams, Lawrence E. Williams, Jr., Daniel Williams, and Brandon Williams; his grandchildren, Dustin Dungey, Devin Dungey, Abbie Underwood, Landon Kubisa, and Dale Williams; his brothers and sisters, Gary Williams, Robert and Joy Williams, Fred and Sherri Williams, Linda and David Hull, Rose and Paul Fox, and Sandy and Allen Lanning; also many nieces, nephews and friends survive. Lawrence enjoyed riding motorcycles and racing cars. He raced at Afton Speedway, Skyline Raceway, Five Mile Point Speedway, Thunder Mountain Speedway and many others. Lawrence made his living as a tractor-trailer driver, the last 15 years was spent with Werner Enterprises where he earned the One Million Mile Safe Driving Achievement. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 16th at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Rev. Jeremy B. Stopford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service. Lawrence will be laid to rest in the spring at Riverview Cemetery in Oxford. “I never say goodbye, I’ll see you later”
