She was born in Siparia, Trinidad, W.I., on June 30th, 1932, to Clemencia and Laurence Pulido. She married her sweetheart, Christopher Halls on July 1st, 1949. They migrated to the United States in 1969, settling in Brooklyn, New York, with seven of their children; the baby of the family to be born a year later. After completing 25 years of service at the Long Island Railroad, they moved to Orlando, Florida in 1996 to begin their retirement.
She is survived by her 8 children - Francis (Henrietta), Gregory (Ramona), Vera (Anthony), Gabriana (Jerome), Leonard (Ann Marie), Judith (George), Elizabeth (Ricardo), and Molisa (Arthur); 27 grandchildren - Arlene (Rueben), Freda, Jeremy, Gregory, Kurt (Aisha), Kimberly, Crystal, Nicole (Eric), Franklin (Suzanne), Jason, Camille, Tyesha, Sean, Ryan, Sherise (Rashann), Amina, Brandon, Cameo (Andrew), Christopher, Mariah, Ricki (Alex), Jessica (Chris), Anthony, Justin, Tiana (Roy), Giovanni, and Alyssa; and 40 great grandchildren.
A devoted wife, mother, and matriarch of the family, Emelda was a delight to all she’d come in contact with. Up until her last moments, she could be found smiling. She will be sorely missed but her legacy will live on for generations to come.
Service will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home at Chapel Hill on Friday, August 7th, 2020 at 12:30pm. Flowers can be sent directly to the funeral home.
