Bruce Paul Rand, 70, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from a pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Beth, his son Adam Rand, his daughters Elizabeth Rand and Jennifer Stevens, his son-in-law Marcus Stevens and his grandchildren Benjamin and Allison Stevens. Born and raised in Troy, NY, the son of Michael and Veronica Rand, he graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1964. He went on to earn a Bachelors of Science at John Carroll University, graduating in 1968. After college, Bruce was commissioned into the Navy as an officer. He proudly served as a Medical Service Corp. officer stationed at Naval hospitals stateside and in the Philippines; he served aboard th USNS Mercy's maiden voyage and the USS Guam during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He retired after 28 years achieving the rank of Commander. Memorial donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action network or Wounded Warrior Project.
