

Lurline “Rose” Idolly Johnson, 83, passed away from this life into eternal life on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. at the Central Florida Regional Hospital in Orlando, Florida, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Lurline was born on May 19, 1934 to Georgiana Pryce and Cleveland Williams in the district of Glasgow in St. Ann, Jamaica WI. She attended the Retirement Primary School, after which, the Brown’s Town Commercial School where she studied Shorthand and Typing. Lurline was united in holy matrimony to Vassel Johnson on August 25, 1962 and they’ve lived as husband and wife until her death on November 6th. She worked for the Jamaica Omnibus Service for many years in various capacities. In 1984, she migrated to the United States where she worked for Manufacturers Hanover for several years. She was a cheerful giver which was a quality she inherited from her mother. She was loved and will be missed by many. Gardening was an integral part of Lurline’s life. She planted flowers, fruit trees and vegetables. She was a Christian woman who read her Bible daily and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo in Orlando, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Vassel; 4 daughters: Gabrele Creighton, Doreta Sackey, Angela Thomas and Josette Johnson; 7 grandchildren: Clint Rutherford, Avrille Campbell, Dr. Samora Cotterell, Jonelle Moss, Rodney Garwood, Zoe Ann Thomas, and Elizabeth Thomas; 6 great-grandchildren: Jonaye Campbell, Coutrney Moss, Carter Moss, Mia Rutherford, Jasmine Brooks and Seff Cotterell; 3 brothers: Hugh Mills, Linville Williams and Lascelles McIntosh; 4 sisters: Dorothy Brown, Cynthia Linton, Olga McKoy and Magdalene Henry; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other loving relatives and friends. A viewing of Lurline’s body will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo between the hours of 10 and 11 a.m. A Thanksgiving Service for her life will be held immediately after the viewing. Cremation of her body will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, an offering will be collected for The American Lung Association and the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo.
