Andrei was my primary instructor at DLI back in 1984. I’ve often wondered about him and was sad to learn of his passing. He was the “A” Section instructor and we all respected him and felt fortunate to have him to teach us. He was the best! My condolences to his family.

I don't know why but I found myself wondering about him, so Google.  It's a decade past his passing now, but we lived across the street from his family in Carmel around 1962.   We both went to Sunset Junior High and he was a good friend.  He was full of life then; may he rest in peace now.

Andrei was a wonderful teacher, and a fine example for this (then) young soldier 34 years ago.  I had hoped to look you up as I came back to Monterey this week... I am pained to learn of your loss.  Прощай, мой друг.  ❤

Sara, I am so sorry Andrei has left us too soon. I was just getting to know you both from the Army Charlie Co. Reunions and enjoyed our brief visits I San Antonio. He proclaimed my boyfriend, Gary Grassi, was one of his best friends in Vietnam. Andrei is the one who wrote the letter to Gary's family when he was killed in action, Feb 5, 1968. I was looking forward to our 2015 reunion in  Monterray. Andrei is now with Gary, talking of old times and of his wonderful family. Always in my prayers.

Andrei was a delight to have as a Russian language instructor. He was always interested and challenged us at each level of proficiency. He was respected and admired by everyone he taught.

I worked with Andrei at DLI as he was advancing to various jobs at DLI... first as a teacher, then a Chairperson, then a School Dean, and finally a founding Dean of DLI's in-country immersion program.  Enjoyed and appreciated every opportunity while interacting with him. Always admired his frankness in stating his opinion. Not many can or are willing to do this. He was always true to himself.

Just got back from Andrei's memorial. Sara, Annalee & Eve, Andrei would of been so proud of you. What a great job you did organizing the memorial so that everyone that knew and loved Andrei could celebrate his life.I know it was hard during this difficult time. Andrei was an exciting, brilliant and extraordinary man..out of the whole wide world he selected Sara to be his wife. Beautiful Sara.  I loved being with him and talking about any number of things. Good luck and godspeed as his new journey begins. Peace of heart and happy memories to his family.

Sad to hear of Andrei's passing.  Last tme I saw him, we were going to get together when he returned from this last trip.  I can"t imagine your loss.  My heart is with you.

I am greatly saddened by Andrei's passing. The Saturday of our last reunion I was fortunate to have had a great conversation with him, as I asked him about Putin. His knowledge of so many things made him such a wonderful conversationalist. I so looked forward to each reunion, hoping he would be there. My heart goes out to Sara and the girls. We have all lost a truly outstanding individual; I cannot believe I won't see him next year.

When Andrei and I were ten or twelve we put out a neighborhood newspaper in Carmel, shared a newspaper route and did a lot of other things together.  He was always full of ideas and fun to do things with.  I wish I had seen much more of him as an adult, but we enjoyed catching up when we did see each other.  I know how much he loved his family and how proud he was of them.  My sincere condolences.  Alan McEwen

I was so sorry to hear about Andrei.  I remember him when he was a small boy, full of energy, clowning around and never sitting still! Though I had not seen him in oh-too-many years, my thoughts have taken me on a walk down memory lane. Our parents were teachers at the Language School, and we arrived in Monterey about the same time as the Pashins.  Andrei clearly lived life to the fullest.My heart goes out to your family.
