William Zacharias, age 69, passed away on Sunday, August 11th at 2:15pm, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Cleveland on July 19th, 1950 to Alexander and Eleanor (Corrigan) Zacharias, he is survived by his wife, Susan Zacharias, children Kelly Zacharias, Christopher Zacharias, Melissa Landis and Alexandra (James) Bathgate, his brother Daniel (Joan) Zacharias, sister Noreen (Mike) Brady, nephews, niece and four grandchildren: Gabriel, Eli, Selah and Logan. Bill had a lifetime career teaching math, science and physics at Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland State and Lorain Community College. He genuinely loved to teach and looked forward to new students each semester. Bill devoted his life to his family and friends always going the extra mile to help at a moments notice. Bill enjoyed long walks alone and with family in the parks and at the lake. Having been brought up working on his father’s boat, Bill enjoyed many hours sailing (or hanging out in the harbor) with his brother and others. But mostly, Bill enjoyed spending time in his own backyard, photographing his “deer family”, watching nature, and his family and grandchildren playing. Bill’s legacy will continue on by all those who were impacted by his knowledge and zest for life. Bill had a story to tell for just about everything and we invite friends, family and colleagues to come and share their own favorite stories of Bill at a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 31st at 2:00 p.m. at 4625 Wood Thrush Drive Parma, Ohio 44134. Please join us for a casual dinner following the Celebration of Life service.
