He attended Sam Rayburn High School and Sam Houston State University. After graduation,
Randy began a career as a police officer for the City of Houston. He retired in 2010 after
working 29 years. He lived in Spring, Texas, La Porte, Texas and Pasadena, Texas. Randy was a
member of Fairmont Park Church. His faith was an important part of his character – he accepted
Christ into his heart at the tender age of eight. Randy spent his entire adult life serving others as
a police officer. In his past time he enjoyed playing, watching and attending all types of sports
events. He enjoyed music.
Randy was predeceased by his father, Freddie Grounds. He is survived by his mother, Sue
Grounds; his sister, Vicki Black and husband, Greg; a brother, David Grounds and wife, Karen;
several nieces and nephews: Dustin DeFee and Katie; Kristin Defee Flores and husband
James Flores; Tamara Self and husband Austin; Taylor Jones; Shelby Fisher and husband, Chris;
Ashlyn Grounds and Travis Wright and wife, Allison, along with many other loving family and
friends.
Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2019, 12:00pm at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer
Highway, Pasadena, Texas, 77505. His funeral service will also be at Grand View Funeral
Home beginning at 2:00pm with burial to follow at Grand View Memorial Park.
