Dorothy was born in Penn Yan on March 9th, 1930, the daughter of the late Louise (Stickles) and Olney Carroll. Dorothy loved nature and spent much of her time enjoying the outdoors as an avid walker. She was very artistic and created many wonderful drawings and writings. Her loving nature inspired her devotion and great love for her family.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Sandra (Gary) Banas of Penn Yan, Steven Mickelsen of TX, Stacey (Dale) Mitchell of Penn Yan, Scott (Deanne) Mickelsen of Canandaigua, and Spencer (Rebecca) Mickelsen of Canandaigua; Fourteen Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; brother, Donald (Pauline) Carroll; brother-in-law, John Fiero; as well as, several Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Mickelsen; her beloved dog, Foxy; sister, Norma Fiero; and brothers-in-law, Clarence (Elizabeth) and William (Gladys) Mickelsen.
Friends and family may gather to share memories and stories of Dorothy from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at the Townsend Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan. Interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home, 655 N. Liberty St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
